This is a picture of my Bountiful Baskets order from this last week. We order the traditional basket which is $15 and is 50% fruit and 50% vegetables.

"They are not eggs...they are mushrooms!"

We picked up our Bountiful Basket order this morning and my 2 1/2 year old was so excited about what we got. She was highly intrigued by the mushrooms. After asking what they were, she continued to repeat the entire way home "they are not eggs, they are mushrooms." Funny how mushrooms can appear to look like eggs to a little one :)

Bountiful Baskets is a local co-op that you can pay $15 for a conventional basket of 50% fruit and 50% veggies. They also offer an organic basket for $25 that is 100% certified and also 50% fruit and 50% veggies. I feel that the produce I get for $16.50 ($15 basket including $1.50 handling fee) is worth at least $40 or more in produce if I were to buy it from the grocery store.

Here is what I got in my basket this week:

3lb Bag of Spanish Onions

Package of Mushroms

2 Large Mangos (I ate one for breakfast and it was so yummy!)

7 Apples including red and green

2 heads of Iceburg Lettuce

5 Green Peppers

5 Cucumbers

10 Lemons

Pineapple

Large bunch of Bananas

Check out the website for more details or leave a comment with any questions!

This week I plan on making Stuffed Green Peppers and Cucumber Salad with the produce. Remember if it seems like too much for just your family you could always split an order or just order every two weeks like we do.

Bountiful Baskets: SAVING on Fresh Produce!

My husband picked up our order from Bountiful Baskets this morning and this is what we got:

3lb Pineapple $4.39

2 heads of Romaine Lettuce $2.00 each

3lb Bananas $0.49/lb

2.2lb Carrots $2.09/2lb bag

Long English Cucumber $2.09

1.5lb Yams $1.69/lb

3.3lb Roma Tomatoes $2.99/lb

2lb Navel Oranges $0.68/lb

5.5lb or 20 Red Potatoes $4.39/2lb bag

2 Avacodos $1.00 each

I paid $16.50 for everything from Bountiful Baskets.

If I would have purchased from the local grocery store I would have paid $41.63 (according to a price check I did from a local store).

You can choose to order the original basket which is $15.00 plus a handling fee of $1.50 or you can also order an Organic basket which is $25.00. To see all the details of what Bountiful Baskets has to offer check out their website here.
