Well I myself love Baby Gap, and I try to be frugal so this was a sure bet for me. My husband and I made it a date to finish getting stocking stuffers for our daughter. We took her to Grandma's (FREE babysitting! Thank you!) Then, we headed out to the Spokane Valley Mall, we looked through Gap to see what caught our eye and to figure out how much we thought we would spend.
We then got side-tracked and made a stop at Hallmark to get her yet another FREE sock monkey using this coupon for her stocking. Then we stopped at Forever 21 to get her some "Pretties" which included a 10 pack of bangles for $6.50 and a sequin shiny silver wallet for $5.00. Every 1 1/2 year old must have "Pretties" in her stocking right? Afterwards we had a great prime rib dinner at Black Angus...not so frugal, but so fun.
Then to Old Navy, here is where the true frugal fun starts. I went through the checkout line to ask about the 20% off giftcards using the "friends and family sale" The not so happy cashier (who was wearing not-so-flattering-pajamas???) not so kindly told me that I had to have a coupon to get the discount. I told her that I have an email about it but not a coupon. She said "we have a whole stack in the back room but I can't give you one, you need to print yours off if you want the discount". I thought to myself while showing a certain look on my face, "why are you telling me you have a whole stack in the back but I can't have one." I did ask if I could talk to a manager to ask them about it. She said no...so I thought well, maybe I will shop around and keep my eye out for the manager. Of course a guy dressed GQ-like happened to walk out of the back room, my husband (who really is the best guy in the world said "I will ask him, why wouldn't they want people to use the coupons?" Sure enough my husband, the charming guy he is talks to the manager, makes small talk, and gets a coupon. Can I tell you the best part about it all? I loved waking up to the same rude cashier (yup, the one advertising PJs that don't fit) with my coupon to buy a $150 giftcard for $120!
Then, we headed back to Gap, picked out $200 worth of merchandise and paid for it with the giftcard, and even got the $1.84 change back in cash. Right now Baby Gap is having a sale that is 25% off all merchandise including sale and clearance (but excludes denim).
Woo Hoo, I just got a ton of clothes for 40% off! That is how to be frugal when you just love Baby Gap! Some sites have claimed that you can stack the 20% off gift cards, the 25% off store sale, and the 20% cheer coupon; however, I was told otherwise (by both the cashier and the fine print on the coupon).
Overall, GREAT DEALS and great fun!
